Spring has come, bringing change, fresh opportunities, and more sunshine! Before long, we’ll be jumping into the summer season. I often talk about seasons in my work with parents. Personally and professionally, I find the idea of seasons helpful for focusing my priorities. As we shift from one season to the next, I hope these ideas related to seasons can help you too.
- Think outside the box when defining your seasons. Sometimes a season aligns with the retail calendar or your child’s sports schedule rather than traditional start and end dates. Identify what season you’re in and how long it will last. Setting a clear timeframe helps keep everyone focused and reminds you that tough periods won’t last forever.
- Pause and reflect. Consider what worked well last season and what you’d like to change. Reflecting on past experiences can provide valuable insights for you, your family, or your team.
- Identify your top priority for this season. Since you can’t do everything, focus your energy on what matters most. Give yourself or your team permission to delegate or set aside less important tasks.
- No season lasts forever. Whether that feels encouraging or disappointing, change is inevitable. Remind yourself that you’ve navigated past transitions and developed strengths along the way. You can rely on those resources to face future challenges in your personal or professional life.
- If this season feels overwhelming, reach out for help. Whether you connect with a fellow business owner, friend, therapist, or coach, support is available. Others have faced similar challenges and can offer guidance.
Whatever season you may find yourself in, I hope you’re able to see the positive aspects of your current situation. And on the flip side, if there are things you are ready to leave behind, may you start a fresh season with new inspiration and ideas.
